I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
My Mum died from pancreatic cancer in April 2020. She was diagnosed only seven weeks earlier,
when she felt fit and well, so the diagnosis was a huge shock, as was the speed
at which her health deteriorated. Pancreatic
Cancer UK produce information packs for patients and families. These helped us to understand what to expect,
and to make the very most of the time we had with Mum in her last weeks and
days.
Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, to treat and to
research, and 24 people die every day from this illness. This January, I’m raising money to support
PCUK in their research so that there are better outcomes in the future, and
also to fund information packs for other families like ours. I’m going to cycle 100km – over the month,
from the comfort of an exercise bike at home.
For more adventurous cyclists, this might not sound like much, but I’m
not known for my fitness levels, so this is a challenge for me!
