Cumbria Way Challenge for Sid (Stephen) Green

By Claire Bevan

I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

In September 2025 we lost our dear friend Sid (Stephen) Green to pancreatic cancer. His passing was devastating - just 7 weeks after his diagnosis, and only a few weeks after he’d been having adventures in Costa Rica with no idea what was to come.

Sid leaves behind three fiercely strong women - Gill, his wonderful wife and Emily and Jess his fantastically brilliant daughters. Sid was only 56 when he died. Emily was 23. Jess, just 20.

We are a group of close friends determined to stand alongside Gill, Em, and Jess and to do something positive in Sid’s name. Pancreatic cancer is a brutal disease, often detected far too late. Early diagnosis is desperately needed, and research is the only path to giving families a fighting chance.

That’s why we’re taking on the Cumbria Way this May—a 70 mile challenge that will test us physically and emotionally. Sid was always up for a walk, and that makes this challenge feel especially fitting.

Your support means more than you know. Every donation, big or small, helps fund vital research through Pancreatic Cancer UK and brings us closer to earlier detection, better treatments, and more hope for families like Sid’s.

Thank you for giving generously

My donations could fund...

20 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
