60 mile canoe and wild camping expedition from Fort William to Inverness
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. In 2001, when Sam was 16, his Dad, Neil Mitchell, died from pancreatic cancer. Diagnosis of pancreatic cancer can take a long time, often with many visits to the doctors and possible misdiagnoses along the way - as was the case Neil. Around 80% of pancreatic cancer patients are not diagnosed until the cancer is at an advanced stage. At this late stage, surgery is nearly always not possible – yet is the only known treatment that has the potential to cure the disease. Neil died at the age of 53, just four months after being given the diagnosis.
This May, a small group of us will be taking on the challenge of paddling from Fort William to Inverness along the Great Glen Trail in open canoes. Over five days we will paddle 60 miles and wild camp on the shores of the lochs. We are looking forward to the challenge ahead of us to raise funds to help Pancreatic Cancer UK, to aid their committed and sustained investment in early diagnosis research.
My donations could fund...
47 hours with a nurse on our Support Line
or
21 hours of early diagnosis research
