Pa’s Legacy(2)

By Callum McLelland-Maher

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer. Following Col’s(Colin McLelland) Legacy fundraiser, it’s given me the opportunity to follow on the support with my own.

After losing my Grandfather(Pa) 4 years ago on the 31 July to Pancreatic cancer, seeing first hand the heartbreak & how tough the treatment, diagnosis, stress & pain it causes. It has shown me there is much research to be done. To get to a stage where it can give people a second chance.

So I’m running 100KM in July to raise money for this worthy cause. If you can spare any kind of donation, it would really appreciated.

I’ll provide updates throughout on how it goes. Been a little while since I’ve really ran - so here goes nothing!

My donations could fund...

16 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

7 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

14km today - can finish off tomorrow with a 5km!

14 km done today, leaving 5km tomorrow to finish nicely, ankle coming along very nicely. The time taken paid off!
Still needing to ease off the ankle over small period but less and less as it goes!

Thank you all so much!!

6km Run - Getting back

Got a 6km run in first thing this morning. Little pain in the ankle joint but on the right road so comfortable running.
I’m nearly my final km’s and final days so every last euro/pound and share/like would so highly appreciated.
Thank you all so much.

15km run/walk

So another 15km gotten in through run/walk unfortunately due to an ankle/knee problem.
Still getting there.
Thank you all - for someone reason not all donations are coming up, I have a further £30 from Jamie Morrisey so thank you very much that & to everyone else, bringing me up to £445 of a target of £400. Only a few days to finish off!!

13km run/walk - injury🙄

So got over last night & this morning another 13km down. Still tipping away. Unfortunately due to some unknown injury with my knee/ankle running has been very painful lately so I’ve had to taper down to a mix of running and walking.
Thank you all so much again for the donations!! I reached and surpassed my target of £400, I am delighted as it will be such a massive help in researching & treating pancreatic cancer. To give every one and their families a second chance to enjoy life, rid of such a thing.

10km done today!

Hi all,

Sorry been a week now since an update. Got a 10km in today. Been a very busy week with complications & a bad ankle!
47km down, nearly half way down distance wise & half way through the month.
Going well so far💪🏻
Only £15 away from my target already, thank you all so, so much for all the support, messages, and donations.

A week in - 37km down!!

HALF MARATHON TODAY!!
so today I banged out 2 runs(11km & 10km)
Wasn’t planned at all, but just went with it & showed me what I can achieve.
So having let the week mark of this challenge pass, I’ve now completed 37km!

Day 4: 3km/FITBIT!!

So with commitments most of today, I got the run in nice and lively this morn.
Just a 3km to keep it tipping over. Also picked up a Fitbit last night & it makes the world of a difference for clocking & pacing.
Got a few anonymous donations yesterday & would like to say thank you very much, I really appreciate it all! #Paslegacy

Day 3: 5km

Got a nice 5km in today with a scenic run. Only intended on 4km so the extra Km was nice to get ahead of myself!!
13km done, 87 to go... #Paslegacy

Day 2: 3km/treadmill

Second day on & a total of 8km so far. On the treadmill tonight was nice having Netflix but you’d miss the wind!!
4km due tomorrow - really nice run picked out for it too!  #Paslegacy

Day 1: Ran 5KM’s

Hi all,

So I started the month off with a 5km run this evening. Felt quite good for not having ran in some time. Definitely going to be feeling it in the calves tomorrow...
5 down, 95 to go!!
Thank you all for all the donations on day one, I really appreciate each one.
