I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
In November 2023, my Mum Rita was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. She went from being an active, full of life woman to being unable to walk up the stairs within a matter of days. Her battle with cancer was short and painful. She passed away on 7th January 2024.
7/10 people who are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer do not get the treatment to help them, and 50% of those people die within 3 months. My mum died within 7 weeks of diagnosis.
My mum loved the Lake District and had a strong family connection to it, she felt at home there, as do myself and my dad. Holidays to the lake district have been a regular occurrence since I was a child.
To help raise awareness towards this disease, I will be completing a cycle in June of 330 miles. This is the same distance from Caerphilly (my home town) to St Bees in Cumbria, where we spent hours over the years enjoying the weather (Rain or Shine).
