I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Hi all,
I’ve decided to take on the ‘24 Challenge’ and give up the bevvies in order to raise some money for PCUK
The challenge is to give up something for 24 days - my chosen luxury is alcohol! Anyone that knows me knows that I love a drinking sesh (and usually go way overboard every time) so to pack this in is going to be a challenge n’half!
Sadly, a close friend of mine lost her Dad to the disease earlier in the year. This accompanied with the fact November is pancreatic cancer awareness month, I thought it would be a fab time to raise some money for a good cause.
For those that was a bit like me a few months back & don’t know a great deal about pancreatic cancer here are some pretty alarming facts for you:
• One person dies from the disease EVERY HOUR in the UK
• Around 8,800 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. Around 8,700 people also die from the disease every year.
• Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK
• Pancreatic cancer has the worst survival rate out of ALL common cancers
• Pancreatic cancer receives only around 1% of funding from the National Cancer Research Institute
• Late diagnosis is a huge problem - 80% of patients are diagnosed when the cancer is already metastatic (ie spread to other organs)
My target is £300 by the 24th November so any donations would be greatly appreciated!
