Sophie’s Shropshire Way 80K Challenge

By Andrew Palmer

I'm fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

On April 18th, 2026, my sister Sophie is taking on an incredible challenge: the Shropshire Way 80K — an 80‑kilometre ultra‑endurance challenge with over 2,500 metres of climbing, winding through some of the toughest and most beautiful terrain the county has to offer.

She’s doing this not just for the adventure, but for a cause that has deeply touched our family.

Running in Memory of Jen

Sophie is raising funds for Pancreatic Cancer research and support services in honour of her sister‑in‑law, Jen, who heartbreakingly passed away from this devastating disease in 2024.  Sophie chose the Shropshire Way 80K specifically because Shropshire is where Jen called home.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancers, often diagnosed late and with far too few treatment options. Jen faced it with courage, strength, and dignity — and Sophie will run in her memory to help others facing the same unimaginable battle.

Why Your Support Matters

  • Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of all major cancers.
  • Funding is urgently needed to support early detection research, treatment development, and care for families going through this heartbreak.
  • Every donation helps continue the fight that Jen could not, giving hope to others.

About the Challenge

The Shropshire Way 80K is no small feat — 50 miles of hills, trails, and rugged terrain, completed in a single continuous effort. Sophie has committed to months of training, determination, and grit to honour Jen’s memory in the most meaningful way she can.

How You Can Help

Please consider sponsoring Sophie as she takes on the Shropshire Way 80K.
Your donation — big or small — truly makes a difference.

Your support means the world to Sophie, our family, and everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.

Thank You

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, supporting, sharing, and remembering Jen with us.

Together, we can help change the future for others facing this horrible disease.

My donations could fund...

17 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

7 hours of early diagnosis research
