Mount Everest Summit

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Last summer, I was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. It is a rare type of cancer that begins in the tissues that connect, support, and surround other body structures. This includes muscle, fat, blood vessels, nerves, tendons, and the lining of your joints. More than 50 subtypes of soft tissue sarcoma exist. Lucky for me, it wasn't around a vital organ, and it was an early stage where the cancer cells just started to develop. Fortunately, everything ended with a straightforward and quick surgical procedure. I understand that not everyone can have so much luck as I had. That's why I have decided to create fundraising for clinical trials to bring new cancer treatments to patients as quickly and safely as possible.

The pancreas is located at the intersection of major blood vessels, making surgery difficult. Pancreatic cancer is relatively uncommon but very deadly. It is hard to detect at an early stage, usually not treatable by surgery, and resistant to drugs that work in many other cancers. That's why I have decided to support people suffering from this specific type of cancer.

I have been thinking for a long time about the type of activity that will draw people's attention to the problem of pancreatic cancer treatment. I have decided that I would go up and down the stairs in my house, with full mountaineering equipment, imitating climbing to the very top of Mount Everest. I will be carrying a 35lb pack with personal gear. To reach the top, and get back to ''the base'', I have to go up and down about 7000 times, to reach the top, and get back safely to ''the base''. I have no idea how long is the track to Mount Everest, but I decided to walk about 19 kilometers.

I will be grateful for all your support.
