I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.

We lost our lovely Hugh, almost 4 years ago, on the 24th June, 2017, after being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer 8 weeks earlier. Early diagnosis could have given him some extra time, to spend time with his new grandson, who was 13 weeks old when Hugh died.

Not a day goes by without us thinking of him or wondering what he would have thought, we miss him terribly.

I’ve wanted to do something for a while, but was never sure just what. A lovely friend has inspired me, with her own fundraising for a different charity, and now I feel ready to give it a go. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has put weight on in the last year, and got into some terrible bad habits. So my plan is to do 24 workouts in 24 days (might be second nature to some, but for me ... absolute torture!) and no alcohol for 24 days. I’ve roped the boys in to do 24 miles, planning on a mile a day, they want to be a part of this 💙

My donations could fund...

48 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

21 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Day 24 we made it 🙌🙌

I can hardly believe it, we made it today 24!! This last few weeks have flown by. The boys have walked over 35 miles, in boiling heat, downpours and lovely evenings! They have one more to do tonight …. Do I go easy on them?!?
I’ve done at least 1 workout every day, mostly before 7am to get them done and get me ready for the day.
I’ve moved my body more than I have ever done before (and don’t I know it!!) I’ve weighed on again this morning and I’ve lost 9lbs in total in 3 weigh ins! I’m so very happy with that. I feel so much better in myself, I’ve loved having something to focus on.
I haven’t had a drop of alcohol in 24 days, which has been surprisingly easy! I’m not going to lie, I’m looking forward to a glass of wine tomorrow, but I haven’t missed it as much as I thought I would.
So proud that we have raised over £1100, the support we have had has been incredible. With donations, kind words, walking partners and just having people to talk to, it really has made such a difference.
And now, to talk about the important thing. Today is 4 years since Hugh sadly passed away. He has been in our thoughts every step of this challenge, we wanted to do something special in his memory, and I hope we have done him proud. Our special Hugh, the best dad, grandad, brother, friend, fixer of every problem that there ever was. We miss you, and love you 💜💜💜💜

Day 19

Can’t quite believe we are on day 19! The boys have done over 27 miles, and seem to be getting quicker!
I’m mixing up my workouts and loving them. I’m exhausted, but I know I’m pushing myself.
This is my third weekend without an alcohol drink 😱😱. Steve had a couple of beers with the football last night, but it didn’t bother me too much.
Not long to go now!!

Halfway point 💜

Here we are on day 12! I can hardly believe it.
We were all up early this morning. Steve took Bumble out, and the boys and I decided to get out before breakfast, and left the house at 7.15 to do our mile! We did just over a mile, so they have now done 17 miles exactly in 12 days. These are set walks, which we have to make time for, so I’m so proud of them.
It was cricket again last night, and I resisted all temptation of a cheeky drink, I stayed strong!
This challenge is doing me so much good. I’m loving spending the time in the fresh air with the boys. I’m working hard on my workouts, I’ve never stuck to something this much before. I can see the changes in myself already, my clothes are a bit looser, I don’t feel so bloated and uncomfortable, my skin is better. Even though I’m tired in the evenings, I have so much more energy in the day.
At this point 4 years ago Hugh had moved into the hospice, and Carter had seen him for the last time and said goodbye. It was an awful time, but this challenge is helping us all. We are keeping busy, and thinking of Hugh in such happy ways. I’d love to know what he would have thought to all this. He would have hated the fuss, but I know he would have been behind us all 100%, cheering us on! 💜

One week done ✅

Feeling so proud of my family right now!
We have managed a whole week. The boys have done just over 10.5 miles (these are set walks not including what they normally do in a day). Steve and I have done workouts every day, in fact I’ve been doing 2 every morning. And we haven’t had an alcoholic drink in a week!
We are all motivating each other, and supporting each other.
Carter has been so excited to tell everyone what we have been doing, chatting away with people on our walks!
My original target was to raise £250, and we have currently raised just over £750, we can’t believe it!! Here’s to the next few weeks!

Day 1 ☑️

So it’s just before 9.30pm, and I’ve come up to bed. This is earlier than normal, especially when Steve is on nights! I started my day at 6, 2 workouts done by 7, showered and was ready for the day! The boys have completed their first mile, which went really well.
I’ve come up and decided to have a little pamper, so I’m going to settle with a book and an eye mask!
I’m feeling really good about today, and I’m ready for tomorrow 🎉

9 days to go!!

Just wanted to pop on and say a massive Thankyou to everyone who has already donated. I am absolutely blown away by your kindness. I set this up with a genuine sense of fear, fear that no one would support me, fear that I couldn’t do it. But I’m so excited to start! I’ve been looking at different workouts to make things fun, and the boys are ready to do their mile a day.
So a big Thankyou from me to you all. I can’t wait to show you all what I’m made of x
