Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.
Our mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in October 2020 - a big shock as she is young, fit and healthy. By getting a second opinion on her case, and with the amazing treatment and dedicated team at London Bridge Hospital, mum's first 3 months of intensive treatment were successful. The chemotherapy had shrunk the tumor in size, and moved it away from the main portal vein, meaning mum qualified for the major 8 hour 'whipple' operation in Feb 2021. Mum faced a long road to recovery post surgery, becoming type 1 diabetic and adjusting to the new normal . A further 3 months chemotherapy was undertaken and in August 2021 our mum was given the amazing news that there was no evidence of recurrent disease.
We are hosting this fundraiser to show people there is light at the end of the tunnel and the importance of gaining a second opinion when it comes to treatment alternatives. This disease can be beaten and we will be raising as much as we can to support the lifechanging research to give others hope of early diagnosis and early treatment.
