5km for 24Days

By Joe Penny

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Hello all and thank you for looking at this page.

Unfortunately my dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in the middle of July this year, after a few months of being ill, and passed away on Sunday 4th August.

I am asking for your help in raising awareness to Pancreatic Cancer. Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer.

In doing so I am going to be taking part in my own challenge 24 where I will be running 5km per day for 24 days starting on 1st September 2019.

24 people in the UK pass away each day from Pancreatic Cancer and this needs to change. Unfortunately Pancreatic Cancer remains both the lowest surviving and the quickest killing Cancer, please support me in my challenge and help me raise as much money as I can to help transform the future for everyone with Pancreatic Cancer.

Thank You

My donations could fund...

7 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

3 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

24 runs complete

Today I completed my #challenge24

It has been an exhausting time, but I have had so much support from everyone during this period which has helped.

Thank you everyone for supporting and donating to this wonderful cause

Close to the finish

Run 22 complete today, only 2 more to go. This has been a tough challenge but I am so happy I have nearly completed it.

Even managed to get a record breaking 5km run which I didn’t expect.

Thank you all for the donations so far, there is still plenty of time to continue donating and helping raise awareness for such a wonderful cause

Half way through

Run 12 complete this morning. Getting there slowly but still going strong. Body is aching and feeling tired but the motivation I get from everyone who has donated so far and the awareness which this challenge is generating is what keeps spurring me on. #Challenge24 #PCuk

Run 4 of 24 complete

Good evening everyone,

Just wanted to give a little update. This morning I completed run 4 of 24. So far I am enjoying the runs and am starting to feel like they are getting easier to do, I’m sure I’ll be saying differently in a weeks time.

Thank you to everyone who has either donated, shared my page or generally given me support so far through the challenge.

If you see my post on social media can you please continue to share with your friends and family for me.

Thank you all

T Shirt arrives

Today I got home from work to receive a parcel from Pancreatic Cancer UK. They were kind enough to send me some ribbons for the family and I to wear on Friday 23rd August for my dads funeral.

They also sent me a lovely card with very kind words in it.

The nicest surprise I had was receiving a Pancreatic Cancer UK running t shirt. This will be great to wear when I do my runs and will help with raising awareness to others.

Thank you very much PCUK for the parcel and most importantly a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far to this fantastic cause.
