I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research.

Having lost my father to this horrendous disease, I know first hand what a horrible and heart breaking disease this is.

With support, research into this disease we may be able to answer questions to help those who maybe affected in the future. Something my dad would have wanted.

Please support me and help make a difference to pancreatic cancer. I will be doubling the 24 challenge and instead running 1 mile a day for 48 days ending in my days birthday.

Thank you for any support it is very welcomed.

My donations could fund...

20 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

9 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Challenge completed x2 +1 (49)

Tonight I finished my challenge.
Through out this time I have had a chance to reflect on the values, ethos and standards my father (and mother) have taught me and I have tried to follow these throughout these running weeks (and in my life as a whole). These are just a few:-

Set yourself a challenge to continually improve yourself. Set the goal but don’t go to the line go beyond it go that extra mile hence the extra mile today).

Dedicate yourself to being the best In everything you set yourself to do. If you don’t why start in the first place. Looking at back at myself at school my school friends will remember I was never the smartest, coolest or best athlete - so would laugh at how things have turned out. Lecturing and completing a PhD, playing at a much higher rugby level than I should ever have been and and having some wonderful friends and colleagues along the way.

Be determined - never accept anyone’s else’s negativity- if they tell you no or you can’t do something- it’s and opinion so prove them wrong! It makes you feel better when you do it.

No matter the hand dealt to you, play it the best you - you only get one shot so never look back and regret.

Always be the best you can be to yourself and others. I aim to be the best father, husband, son, friend, physio, teacher etc- and only I know how much effort I have put into to this- it is me that should be self critical and know if I haven’t or should be better.

Without being to philosophical, this challenge is dedicated to my dad. He has taught me these Life lessons and I thank him. Right until the end he fought the fight, turned the negativity of other into a challenge, and I admire you for it! I hope when I look up and he is looking down he is smiling! Thanks dad x

A 5 miler tonight and feeling good.

Well getting there and tomorrow 3 to finish. But as anything that is a good cause this has become a good habit and I will continue....

My pain is temporary

Another 2mile run up hill on the X trainer. Those of you who know me - I’m never made for distance. Short sharp/ recover and on I go again is my game ( well this and as well as warming the bench!!).
So I’m not going to say this isn’t hard. However I know my pain is temporary, others aren’t as fortunate.
The support I have had has been incredible - from your kind words to donations - I’m so grateful.
Let’s spread the word about this horrendous disease and give other hope.
Thanks you ever so much...

10miles to go...

Well there we have it - getting there. 38miles Completed-  10 to go- let’s see if we can get this out the way over the next few day.
Your support has been fantastic. Thank you

Half way there...

Thank you for the support and the best wishes.
I’m very grateful and it is the driving force to help people and research more about this horrible disease.
Thanks ever so much. The next half will fly by.

Everything I do I do it for ....

5km today - Keeping on pushing.

God loves a trier!

Keep on pushing forwards- I’m really a short distance man....

No matter how tired don’t sit back.

A huge thankyou!!!

I just wanted to thank yuh all
So very much for the support and donations. Your messages are an inspiration to me, and driving me forward!!!

Day 3 another 2km - thanks to everyone

Thankyou to everyone for your generosity and kind wishes- I’m so very grateful.
Another 2km today - if only it recorded that (1.24 mile) instead of rounding down to 1mile. Just means I need to run further and faster!!
As my dad said it’s not worth doing unless you give it your all!!
Thanks again everyone!!

Starter for 10 (48)

Well here we go- started inside today on the treadmill as its a monsoon outside (and this is a run not a swim!).
Solid start for someone with 3
Hours sleep (however the good news is that Baby Alice has told me that although she can’t donate Money she will sleep longer at nights to help me!!!).
Thanks ever so much for your support.
Coming back from ankle reconstruction surgery I’m going to push all the  way and blitz the 48 miles.
Here we go....
