We are fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. Too often it is not discovered until it’s already spread and so is too late. Mum got 10 months post diagnosis. Many barely get 10 days.
It’s almost a year to the day that our Mum was diagnosed with a specific and rare PC called ampullary carcinoma. After ten months of treatment including a life changing operation (the Whipple) and some gruelling chemo, mum sadly lost her fight at the end of May this year.
Toby, Jasper and Esmé (3 of Mum's grandchildren) are taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer.
They are going to run (Jasper and Toby) and cycle (Esmé) 24 miles in 24 days. That’s a big effort for a 12, 7 and 5 year old.

Well, we had a difficult last few days due to the incredibly hot weather and Toby falling over and grazing his knee when scootering and then two days later falling AGAIN and taking whatever skin had slightly healed on his knee off again!! However no matter what, he was out there everyday and fully deserved his trophy at the end. I can believe how much the children have raised in Mums name ❤️ So proud of them all 🥰 Share

This evening, Jasper and Esmé finished their 24 miles in the crazy heatwave and humidity we are experiencing right now. It was the hottest yet but at the end they were rewarded with an ice cream and a trophy! This obviously made their day. We then went for a nice cold drink in the pub garden.
Day 19 and still going strong!
Toby has upped his challenge to 2k per day now, and is continuing to power through everyday. It’s going to be tough going for the next few days as it’s going to be HOT but I know he will be there giving it his all every day for Granny x Share

Tobes has been out everyday as he committed to do. Might be slightly slower this week, tired legs after running every single day I think! Share

We have now done 9 miles and although physically the kids can easily manage a mile, getting them out everyday isn’t always that easy! On day 7 the run had to end with an ice cream for bribery!
A different route for Toby
Day 6 (and in fact 7, 8 and 9) mean a different route for Tobes as he is at his Dad’s for a few days. Didn’t stop him going out and smashing day 6 though ❤️ Share

He isn’t getting any less red faced and sweaty but he is getting his trainers on everyday without being asked and off he runs.
Day 4 and Toby went too far!
Still an early bird with his runs (will this last??) Tobes set off this morning and did a different route for a change and ended up running too far! Not a bad thing, given he has a second challenge going on at the same time as this with his football club for 5k runs each week... Share

I am very proud of him, he just got up had breakfast and then into his running gear 👍

Today was slightly harder getting Jasper around the mile because of a stitch he had but he did it and we have just seen we are nearly on £1000 raised! Hooray!! Share

The enthusiasm is still going strong. Jasper is enjoying the running and Esme the cycle. They keep insisting on going out on bike rides after the challenge so my legs are getting tired now, running to keep up! Share
