Raising Funds with Fitness

By Amy Van De Casteele

I am fundraising for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Pancreatic cancer is tough – tough to diagnose, tough to treat and tough to research. And, in the uncertain times we’re currently experiencing, things have become even tougher for people with pancreatic cancer.

I’m taking on Challenge 24 at home to raise money for this vital cause because 24 people are still dying every day from pancreatic cancer. I am also doing it in honour of my mother, who passed away from pancreatic cancer last July, leaving a gaping hole in my life which can never be filled. If I can help even just one other family by raising some money, and thereby prevent them from having to go through what we have been through, it would mean the world.

Please support me and my fundraising. Together we can make a difference and fund life-saving research.

My donations could fund...

14 hours with a nurse on our Support Line

or

6 hours of early diagnosis research

My Updates

Challenge completed...

Today was the last day of my Challenge 24...it has been an uplifting experience and I am so grateful for all the generous donations I have received for the charity. Pancreatic cancer is a terrible disease but hopefully in the not too distant future we will find a way to vanquish it, or at least make massive inroads into the diagnosis and treatment of this cancer.

My wonderful mum fought pancreatic cancer so bravely and this challenge was done in her memory.

I love her and miss her more than words can ever adequately express.

Day 16

I have now reached Day 16 of my challenge and I am so grateful for all the donations, both through this page and via FB. I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart! Today's workout will probably be the toughest yet, as it had a fitness expert rolling on the floor in pain, but I am excited to give it a go, and the donations make it all so totally worth it, as this is such a worthy cause. Thanks again everyone! Much love to you all.

Day 6

Hi everyone...so yesterday was another ballet workout and an attempt at some pop choreography with my oldest daughter. Today was a much more rigorous chest workout followed by the Baby Shark ab exercise...I will definitely feel that tomorrow :D

Thank you ever so much for all your donations so far, they mean the world to me and it's helping an amazing cause...so thank you, thank you, thank you!

Day 4 update

Yesterday, Day 3, was a tricep workout and today I thought I would mix it up and do something a bit more fun so I tried a ballet workout via YouTube. Makes me truly appreciate how strong and supple ballet dancers are.

I hope everyone is staying safe in these difficult times, and if you can spare even a few pounds for this cause I would be so grateful....all contributions of any size will be so much appreciated and will really help make a difference to those who are bravely battling cancer.

Many thanks,

Amy

Day 2

Okay I unfortunately got off to a bad start on Day 1 as I wasn't feeling well so managed only a walk with the dog for my fitness session but today my fiance says we will be working on biceps so that should be...painful...and then tomorrow its triceps, which I don't actually seem to have...and then the next day shoulders...that is the plan thus far.

On a more serious note, I know its a tough time for everyone from all walks of life  here and around the world, but if you could just spare a few pounds to help those suffering with pancreatic cancer we can make a difference and I would be so deeply grateful from the bottom of my heart..I know from firsthand experience what a devastating effect this disease can have, and to have to cope with it during this global crisis must be an unimaginable burden for patients, families and medical teams...so please, please, even if you can only spare a tiny amount, every little helps....we are all in this together, and we can all try and make the world a better place in so many ways, no matter how big or small.

Thank you for reading and I wish everyone the best during these difficult times.

Tomorrow's the big day

Tomorrow I will start my Challenge 24, with 24 days of workouts...I probably won't be very good at them as I am usually the kind of person who would prefer to eat cake and watch others head off to the gym...but this is a cause very close to my heart, and I hope I can make even a tiny bit of difference, in honour of Mum and everyone else who has been affected by pancreatic cancer.
